One of the realities of Data Logging is the relationship between faster sampling speeds and higher power usage. Even the state-of-the-art data loggers available today have this problem. When line power is not available at the installation point, self powered devices become a must. A conventional power supply can be used when increased sampling speed is desired if power is available at the installation.

However, in many applications there is no line power available so battery power is required for faster than standard sampling. ACR Systems has developed a battery pack using 3 replaceable AAA cells. The pack has an 8 inch cable with a male stereo jack on the end, allowing it to be plugged into the communications port of the data logger.

The BP-101 battery pack was designed to be used with the Smart Reader Plus family of loggers manufactured by ACR Systems. These loggers sample every 8 seconds WITHOUT additional power. When the controlling software selects the fast read mode, and the PS101 supply or the BP-101 is plugged in before the start delay in the data logger occurs, sampling will go to the fast mode.

The BP-101 will power the Smart Reader Plus for 7 days continuous before the batteries need replacing. There is a dead battery light good for 28days after turn on. It is important to note that if you remove the added power source the data logger stops recording and can only be restarted by plugging the added power source back in and sending start up configuration from the software including delayed start.
